Oben Rorr Problems: an owner's defect log

Every problem my Rorr EVO showed in its first 72 hours, what it looked like from the saddle, and what to record if it happens to you. If your Rorr has a problem that isn't listed, report it here.

Sudden total power loss while riding

Safety-critical

What happened

Console goes blank and the motor stops delivering power, with no warning, while moving. In my case it happened on a flyover in live traffic about two minutes after switching from Eco to City mode, and twice more the same evening. Cycling the ignition key brought it back after several minutes.

If it happens to you

Note the time, place, riding mode and battery %. If you can do so safely, film the blank console. Ask the dealer for the fault-code log from the diagnostic tool — in writing.

Bike moves forward without throttle input

Safety-critical

What happened

In stop-go traffic the bike crept forward by itself with the throttle closed, forcing me to hold the brakes and switch off the ignition at every stop. Technicians at an independent accessory workshop saw the bike lurch forward inside their shop and advised against riding it.

If it happens to you

Stop riding. Ask any third-party mechanic who sees it to put their observation in a short written note or WhatsApp message with date and time.

Instrument cluster freezes (stuck at 37 km/h) or goes blank

High

What happened

On delivery night (18 Oct) the TFT locked on 37 km/h while the bike was moving; speed, battery and mode readouts stopped updating. On 28 Oct — after the service visit — the screen went completely blank in traffic. Both recorded on video (below).

If it happens to you

Film the display and the road together so the motion is visible. Send the video to the dealer and to Oben support the same day so there is a timestamped record.

▶ Video · 18 Oct 2026 · 39sDash frozen at 37 km/h. Recorded by the owner on the night of delivery, 18 October 2026. The Rorr EVO's instrument cluster stays locked on 37 km/h in ECO mode while the motorcycle is moving through a lane — speed, range and mode readouts stop updating. Open video page & share →
▶ Video · 28 Oct 2026 · 53sScreen blank in traffic. Recorded by the owner on 28 October 2026, ten days after delivery. Riding in evening city traffic, the Rorr EVO's TFT screen shows only an empty frame — no speed, no battery range, no riding mode — while the motorcycle keeps moving. Open video page & share →

Grinding noise and heavy vibration

High

What happened

A harsh metallic grinding noise with chassis vibration from the first kilometres on the main road, much louder than on the test ride. Returned unchanged after the service visit.

If it happens to you

Record audio at a steady speed. Ask whether the chain, sprocket alignment and motor mounts were checked at PDI — and ask for that PDI sheet.

Battery charge collapsing / 50% riding limit

Medium

What happened

At delivery I was told not to let charge fall below 50% for the first 15–20 days. During the Day 2 service visit the bike's charge fell to around 45% and, I was told, it could not be ridden back under Oben policy, so it came back on a flatbed.

If it happens to you

Ask for any battery restriction in writing at delivery, and ask what it means for range in daily use. A restriction no one mentioned during the sale is something to question.

PDI charged but checklist withheld

Medium

What happened

A ₹2,500 Pre-Delivery Inspection fee was billed, but the signed PDI checklist was not given to me when I asked for it at delivery.

If it happens to you

Do not sign the delivery note until you have the PDI sheet. Note the refusal on the delivery note itself if you must sign.

Safety first. If your EV loses power or moves without throttle input, stop riding it and report it to the manufacturer in writing. Safety defects in vehicles can also be reported to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the National Consumer Helpline.

Is it just my bike?

I don't know yet — that's the point of this site. One bike is an anecdote; a pattern is evidence. If you own a Rorr or Rorr EVO and have seen any of the above, submit your experience with photos or job cards. Verified stories are published on the owner stories page.
